Engaging citizens in cohesion policy

Around one-third of the European Union’s budget is dedicated to cohesion policy, which promotes and supports overall harmonious development its Member States regions. The success this investment relies on effective partnerships among governments, stakeholders, citizens. Citizens have a key role play in shaping decisions public investment, as well making authorities more transparent accountable. From July 2020-December 2021, Commission OECD partnered explore how five across Europe could place citizens at centre their decisions. This report summarises lessons learned throughout project and, particularly, results applying innovative citizen participation methods policy broadly.
